I’m fortunate Miguel is on the north shore because his techniques are very effective. I had been surfing since I arrived and needed to recover sooner for the approaching swell. He released painful trigger points and stretched my muscles to reduce tension along my spine and hips that I was able to continue surfing well the next morning. My shoulders and back were less fatigued, and I was able to execute my pop ups and turns for an active 3 hr surf. I would not have had a phenomenal session had I not seen him. He is very meticulous and thorough, and he always making sure you’re not in pain (I have high tolerance). He perfectly stops at the right endpoints and applies enough pressure so you know you’re getting the optimal stretch and fascial release. I had been doing weekly acupuncture at home in the US to support my fertility after having trouble getting pregnant, and somewhat on a whim booked a session with Miguel while on a yoga retreat in the Azores. He has a very warm, calm, and healing presence, asked thorough questions about my history, really took his time with the session, and was extremely empathetic and seemed genuinely interested in the success of his treatment. The acupuncture was quite different than what I had been used to, and included electroacupuncture, massage, and more. Miguel also gave me some additional tips to consider through my eventual pregnancy. The whole session was very soothing and healing, and I would gladly have continued with him if he was closer to home. Low and behold, I finally got pregnant the following month and just gave birth to a beautiful and healthy baby a few weeks ago!
